Why Is Coconut Oil Important In Natural Deodorant

Coconut Oil is one of my favorite oils! Why, you ask???  Well it's one of the most multi-functional natural plant derived oils out there. Most well known for its: healing, moisturizing, and rejuvenating effects on skin and hair, plus used for home cooking, commercial food processing, and pharmaceutical purposes.

But why is it essential in our natural deodorant formulas? Well let's get down to business!

Lauric Acid

1. Lauric Acid is a non toxic component of  Coconut Oil that contains antimicrobial properties for surface bacteria on skin. When our armpits sweat it meets up with the surface bacteria that forms under our armpits and creates odor. Also our sweat is our waste which contains natural chemicals that our bodies have processed, some of which we consume on a daily basis. Depending on your diet and miscellaneous consumptions it can be a contributing factor to overall body odor and will differ in scent and in strength. Studies have shown that Lauric Acid is effective and can reduce the amount of bacteria that forms on the skin.

2. Anti-Inflammatory Lets face it our armpits are sensitive, especially after shaving or waxing. I always recommend ridding the armpit of hair as it can attract more surface bacteria, thus causing stronger odor. Coconut Oil contains anti-inflammatory properties that neutralizes the skin of irritation through our bodies anti-oxidants; by stabilizing free radicals in the body, then neutralizing the reactive atoms that can contribute to inflammation. Whew... Did you get all of that??? LOL! Yes coconut is amazing and is backed by science!

3. Moisturizing  When applied to the skin Coconut Oil acts as a lightweight, fast absorbing moisturizer. I am sure many of you have applied plain Coconut Oil directly on your skin, especially since it's become so popular over the past few years. When used on a regular basis Coconut Oil can prevent dryness and flaky skin;  which some people do report experiencing dryness under the armpit area, so it helps solve the problem.

If you made it this far, I sincerely appreciate you spending your valuable time on reading my latest blog post. Remember sweating is natural and most important healthy, but we got you covered in the natural deodorant department to help keep your body odor at bay!
